Ingredients
Wheat - 1/2 cup (should get about 1 cup of milk)Sugar - 2.5 cups (use brown if available)
Water - 4 cups
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Ghee - 1 cup
Cashews - 15 (split)
Method
- Soak wheat in water for 8 hours or more
- Grind wheat to extract the milk using a fine sieve. Use the rest of the wheat and grind again using more water and extract milk. Quantity of water does not matter
- Set milk aside for 4 hours or more. The wheat milk solids will settle to the bottom
- Remove water from top carefully. The remaining milk should be about a cup
- Add 4 cups of water to wheat milk extract
- Boil until consistency is of porridge
- Add sugar. Keep stirring and cook until sticky
- Add ghee in 3-4 portions. For every portion, mix until ghee is absorbed
- Keep stirring until ghee oozes out
- Mix cardamom and set aside
