Prawns - 500 gms (cleaned and de-veined)
Onions or Shallots - 1 cup (finely sliced)
Garlic - 3 (finely minced)
Ginger - 1 inch
green chilies - 5
Red chilli powder - 2 tsps
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Fennel powder - 1/2 tsp
Kasuri methi - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - 10-25
Cooking oil
Salt to taste

Preparation methods
- Grind the ginger and chilies into paste
- Marinate the prawns in ginger green chili paste, 1 tsp chili powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice and salt for 30 mins
- Add 3-4 tbsp water to the marinated prawns and cook for 6-8 mins
- Drain the excess water/broth into a cup for later use
- Heat oil in a pan, add garlic and saute until light brown
- Add sliced onions, kasuri methi and curry leaves and saute till the onions turn a light brown
- Add the cooked prawns, 1 tsp chili powder, fennel powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder and stir fry for a few mins
- Add the broth and salt to taste. Cook until water evaporates
