Ingredients
Black-eyed peas - 1 cupShallots - 4-6
Garlic - 4-5 pods
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Curry leaves - 10-12
Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
Red chili - 3-4
Method
- Soak black eyed peas in water with a tsp of salt for 8 hours or so
- Pressure cook black eyed peas for 4-5 whistles. Allow pressure to release
- Grind about quarter cup of cooked blacked eyed peas with the rest of the ingredients with as little water as possible
- Mix masala, cooked blacked eyed, water and salt. Cook for 10-12 mins in medium heat
- Option: Tadka of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves
