Ingredients
Bread slices - 12Milk - 3 cups
Sugar - 1 cups
Water - 1 cups
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Safron - 3-4 strands
Pistachios - 1 tbsp
Skinless Almonds (slivered) - 8-10
Khoa - 1/4 cup
Ghee
Preparation Method
- Cut out the edges of bread and cut the slices into 4 pieces. Dry them for 6-8 hours
- Heat ghee in a pan and fry almonds and pistachios until light brown
- Fry the bread slices in ghee until golden brown
- Boil sugar and water in a vessel until sugar is about 1 string consistency
- Add bread slices and allow to soak for about 10 mins on each side. When soaked, take bread slices out and allow to drain
- Mx cardamom and saffron to milk
- Heat up milk and cook in simmer enough to thicken to about 1/2 volume (about 1.5 cups)
- Add 1 cup to bread slices and allow to soak on both sides
- Add khoa to rest of milk and cook until creamy
- Add dollops of creamy khoa milk and sprinkle almonds/pistachios
