Ingredients:
Tomatoes - 4 nos
Sesame seeds - 2 tbsp (roasted)
Green chillis - 4 nos
Red chilli - 2 nos
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1 1/2 tsps
Tamarind paste - 1 tsp
salt to taste
Ingredients for tempering
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
oil - 1 tbsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
10-12 fresh curry leaves
Preparation method
- Heat oil in a pan. Fry cumin seeds, urad dal and red chilli until Urad daal is brown in color. Remove from fire and keep aside
- Heat oil in pan. Fry green chillis and saute for a minute. Add the sliced tomatoes and fry for 8-9 mts or till the water evaporates. Set aside and let it cool
- Grind the fried cumin, dal and red chillis with roasted sesame seeds. Add fried tomato and green chillis and grind to paste
- Add tamarind and salt and grind mix
- Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds and after they splutter add the asafoetida and curry leaves and turn off heat. Pour over chutney and mix
