Double ka meeta II

Ingredients

Bread slices - 12
Milk - 3 cups
Sugar - 1 cups
Water - 1 cups
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Safron - 3-4 strands
Pistachios - 1 tbsp
Skinless Almonds (slivered) - 8-10
Khoa - 1/4 cup
Ghee

Preparation Method

  • Cut out the edges of bread and cut the slices into 4  pieces. Dry them for 6-8 hours
  • Heat ghee in a pan and fry almonds and pistachios until light brown
  • Fry the bread slices in ghee until golden brown
  • Boil sugar and water in a vessel until sugar is about 1 string consistency
  • Add bread slices and allow to soak for about 10 mins on each side. When soaked, take bread slices out and allow to drain
  • Mx cardamom and saffron to milk
  • Heat up milk and cook in simmer enough to thicken to about 1/2 volume (about 1.5 cups)
  • Add 1 cup to bread slices and allow to soak on both sides
  • Add khoa to rest of milk and cook until creamy
  • Add dollops of creamy khoa milk and sprinkle almonds/pistachios
Serve warm or cold. Tastes good with ice cream
