Punjabi Daal Fry

Ingredients
Daal mix 
Toor Daal - 1/4 Cup
Chana Daal - 1/4 Cup
Moong Daal - 1/4 Cup
Moong Daal with skin - 1/4 cup
Masoor Daal - 1/4 cup

Onion - 1 medium (finely chopped)
Red Chilly Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp

Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Green Chillies - 3 or 4 nos (slit)
Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Ginger Paste - 1 tsp

Coriander leaves  - finely chopped (handful)
Curry Leaves
Oil
Salt    

Preparation Method

  1. Pressure cook daals in 2 cups of water for 4 whistles. Allow steam to release
  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil a pan. Saute chopped onions until translucent
  3. Make a paste of the spice powders in little water and add it to the onions. Fry for 2-3 mins
  4. Add cooked daal and mix well. Cook for 5 mins and turn off heat
  5. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan for tadka. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  6. After the seeds splutter, add curry leaves, chopped green chillies, ginger & garlic. Fry for about a minute
  7. Add to daal along with coriander and mix
