Cauliflower Poriyal


Serves 4



Ingredients
Cauliflower - 1 medium-sized cut into small florets (about 2 cups)
Pearl onion - 10 (thinly sliced)
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Red chilies - 2-3
Green chilies - 5-6 (slit lengthwise)
Crushed pepper corns - 8 - 10 (not powder)
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - 8-10 leaves
Salt
Oil

For Cauliflower Egg Poriyal
Eggs - 2
Salt
Oil

Preparation method

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. Fry until they splutter
  • Add red chilies and fry until they are brown
  • Add curry leaves and green chilies. Fry until a few minutes
  • Add sliced onions and fry until light brown
  • Add crushed pepper and fry for a minute or so
  • Add cauliflower, grated coconut and turmeric powder. Fry for a few mins and add salt
  • Fry in low heat until fully cooked
For Cauliflower Egg Poriyal
  • In a different pan, heat some oil
  • Break the eggs into the pan. Scramble until fully cooked
  • When fully done and dry sprinkle some salt and fry for a minute
  • Add to cauliflower poriyal and fry for 2-3 more minutes. Stir constantly
